Does
Corporate Cash buy the Dream?
As
the National Civil Rights Museum steps up its fund-raising activities,
it would certainly appear so.
Rather
than following the examples of Dr. King by helping others, it now seems
one can secure a place in Heaven with Corporate cash. The Civil Rights
Museum has even organized a sweepstake where one lucky winner can "Drive
The Dream" by winning a lexus car in their $50 ticket competition.
Even by Museum standards, this latest initiative must be viewed as the
most vulgar yet. It represents a flagrant slap in the face to everything
Dr. King stands for.
The
following organizations have already enlisted their support in donating
cash towards the Museum's $8 million extension, where visitors can revel
in the latest exhibits of violence kindly donated by the U.S. Justice
Department.
Assisi
Foundation - Autozone - City of Memphis - FedEx - First Tennessee Bank
- The Plough Foundation - Promus Corporation - ServiceMaster
Shelby
County Government - State of Tennessee - Storage USA - Harrah's Entertainment
- Hyde Family Foundations
Perhaps sympathizers
of this cause will follow Dr. King's example and consider their purchases
very carefully in the future.
