Alleged
Murder Weapon to be exhibited at the Nation Civil Rights Museum
Just
when it appeared that the National Civil Rights Museum had sunk as low
as it could get - yet another disappointing piece of news raises its
head. The alleged murder weapon, a Remington 30.06 GameMaster rifle
has been secured in an arrangement between the museum and the Justice
Department.
Although
there is considerable doubt as to whether the rifle was indeed responsible
for the crime. The burning issue is whether it is a suitable subject
for exhibition within the museum. Surely the time has come for the museum
to come to its senses and realise that this blatant exploitation should
cease and it should send out the right signals to its youthful visitors
by promoting the non-violence teachings of Dr. King.
Now
is the time for the museum to set an example to American youth and reject
the gun culture so prevalent in this society. Please, for once, set
an example to our children and reject this project - now.
