Jacqueline does have her opponents. On one occasion someone attempted to set fire to Jacqueline while she slept. Another time, the protest site was severely damaged by two men in a pick-up truck shouting "bye-bye Jackie" a moment before the collision.

Nature too can create problems, Jacqueline spent a considerable time shaking off the effects of severe mosquito bites. When an ice storm hit Memphis, she faces considerable danger, but Jacqueline has remained true to her believes year after year.

Jacqueline Smith is a rare and precious National resource. She should be awarded the same level of respect and support on her own doorstep as she receives throughout the United States and abroad.
